Smellivision...It's finally HERE!

Well, at least in Japan!

We have talked about it and joked about for years. Now engineers and scientists in Japan have developed a system for recording, storing digitally, and reproducing....odors!

While still in a prototype stage, the machine is way bigger than a breadbox, the new "odorecorder" uses 15 sensors and 96 vials of chemicals to closely reproduces smells. It is envisioned that you may one day record a smell with your handheld phone, then message it to another phone (probably a home "smellephone" where the listener/smeller will smell what you smell. Please keep it out of public restrooms, especially in France!
