Computer Ads from the Early 1980s

07/17/2006 11:35 AM

A friend of mine just sent this to me, so I thought I'd share.
Check out this collection of ads for computers from the 1980s!. They are original ads taken from magazines, printed in a bunch of different languages. My two favorites: Issac Asimov pushing the Radio Shack TRS-80 and William Shatner (in a very fashionable v-neck sweater) schilling the Commodore VIC-20. Take a few moments to wade through these ads and let the nostalgia flow.

I bought the Casio hand-held computer with Radio Shack's name on it, and I've still got it.

I haven't thought about the Banana Jr., series in Bloom County for years (actually, I haven't thought much about Bloom County, either). Great satire on the IBM / MAC wars during the 80s. My first computer (not including my Atari 2600) was a MAC LCiii in the early 1990s, so I missed out on a lot of the fun here.
