Fuel Saving Device

08/16/2006 7:41 AM

James R. Brock writes:
We have developed an emission control device that provides increased fuel economy and reduces pollution? It's called "The Fuel/Air Saver" which has and does as advertised. How would you suggest I go about marketing this device?

Thanks
Jim

fuel saver idea

Best of luck first try not to get ripped off ,go on lineUS Patent Office and see if it hasn't been done before you would be surprised, initiate a "poor mans Patent" by sending your attorney and yourself a sealed envelope containing your ideas . Look into a patent pending protection by submitting your idea for review through a patent attorney or as best you can to the US patent offices .Get disclosure forms for people to sign before telling them .If you did all that thats the only way a company that is legitamite should talk to you . Avoid the rip off patent services they would tell you a new butter knife is a good idea to get your money if you believe otherwise ask for thier track record of successes .I hope someone else can provide some more positive input I don't mean to give you negative comments just a reality check .Net work like your doing find someone who has developed a simular product and ask them for advise read other patents for those contacts .

Fuel saving device

Mr Brock, as a professional inventor/engineer I can agree with >90% of what the first responder said about patents. However, I'd be first inclined to challenge your claims since any public announcement or investor will demand the proof of your claims through rigid and repeatable testing. It's standard engineering or R&D procedure to include this step and if possible, have an external laboratory verify the results. The big reasons are; 1. make sure your results are not subjective or skewed, 2. if valid, apply for a provisional patent for $100, sign NDA (non-disclosure forms) with any one and everything if you must disclose the technology, EVEN if you have a provisional patent (see www.uspto.gov/) 2. proof of the results and a provisional patent can be used for FUNDING!!! ADVERTISING!!! PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS!!! 3. if you make it to number 2 (proof of results, provisional patent)and because of the important nature of your technology, and if funding is what you need to get to the next step, I recommend researching for "incubator" start up groups in your local area. They specialized in high tech (usually) but also value product ideas such as yours. They can fund you after you produce a business plan etc. They work with angel investors ( $1M). Getting your product from prototype to market is the greatest challenge even though you may have what the world wants in a product. Use the media to inform the public of your invention only if find that investment form venture groups isn't working out for whatever reason. Good Luck!!

energy saving devices

All good advice. I would encourage you to do whatever is necessary to verify the efficacy of your device. This is an area where that has been tread by many a would be inventor as well as industries with huge research budgets. Conspiracy theories aside, can you imagine the advantage an auto manufacturer would have if it could offer a large improvement over the competition. Bad science is easier to do than we would like to think and it is essential that you get un-biased test results before you invest your time and effort on such a hotly pursued objective.

There is a limit to how much leaning you can do and still support combustion. Also, if it means you have to step down harder to get the same amount of power, well...

Here is one customer you never thought of...

If you really, really, have a device that decreases fuel consumption in internal combustion engines, and if you believe in Urban Legends, then you want to market your device to one group only. Not to consumers, not to auto companies, but to the OIL companies!

Legend has it that several such devices have been designed and patented over the years, and every time Big Oil got wind of it and bought out the device. You can become rich and then be able to afford $10 per gallon gasoline prices!

Get a website!

Many new startups are using the World Wide Web to market their products. You can too.

Check out the product at the URL below. Maybe they are already marketing your idea! (grin)

Fuel saving divice

I have a feeling you have been copied, and a product that sounds like yours is already for sale in Guatemala, and at a very low price. It looks like someone got your design and copied it and is working with it here in Guatemala.

Pogue Theory

08/18/2006 8:06 AM

Sounds real good to have such an idea. However, your not the first to have such a device to offer up to the world. Watch your back if you do not have a working proto-type of such a device. There are greater powers which we as ordinary persons at work against us, especially when it involves the oil industries! As mantioned before, they will search you out and offer you gobs of money, just to shut you down! Beware!

saving fuel

08/19/2006 7:07 AM

An Australian company called Permo Drive (www.permo-drive.com) designed a fuel saving device - they took it to one of the biggest fuel users on the planet, the US Military, who evaluated it and signed a contract (I'm sure this is a gross simplification - there were probably 18 months and some very late nights for the inventors in between). If your system works, this might be good way to skip the difficult and expensive process to getting a new product to market. If you can convince the military they will save 5% on their fuel bill you'll probably open some doors. Good luck.
