It is no reason to apologize for not having this knowledge!

We do not know all and never know all even if some of us will give the impression to have an expert answer to all questions.

Every body has a smaller or bigger knowledge in a couple of directions but not in all.

I cannot help you and doubt that some body could but it is to respect you wish to make some thing not only discuss. I wish you good luck.

Hi Yakobus - If you are prepared to do some reverse engineering you can start here. http://www.engin.umich.edu/~cre/01chap/html/reactors/sasol.htm#pfr

The balance of the 50,000 or much more photos can be bought at Z$1000,000,000,000 (today value) per photo.

Actually the plans would be considered as intellectual property, would only vaguely resembles the process and would cost you an arm and a leg. The investment to get this off the ground would have been huge.

Thank You for ur help...I am consider to built the Mini Reactor First or Lab Scale First..then If I already know all about it...I will built the Plan. ( there are many Huge Investor behind me ).

I wonder if you or someone could help about the Lab scale First.

Thanks

Hi guest,

May I suggest that you start with reading a good book on organic chemistry and than some on chemical engineering? From your question and your last posting I conclude that you don't really have much of an idea, what the relevant parameters of the reaction are, how the product will vary, depending on the variation of the process parameters and so on. Oh, and not to speak about upscaling a process from lab scale to production size, or how to control processes on a large scale basis .

I don not intend to offend you, but believe me, you will surely not be able to acquire the necessary knowledge in a forum or by performing a few experiments in your garage!

Anyway - good luck

I read all the answers and wonder about them.if you have an investor of note why not see Sasol and ask in the front door. They are up to sharing the technology.

The germans did it during the second world war but Sasol have done so much to improve way all is done.

The income they have enjoyed talks for it's self.

While all enjoyed the oil ..Sasol with huge tax breaks worked on the method.

Now they do gas from the next country and do it well...

so why not give them a call i am sure they would like to talk.

Acknowledgement of lack of knowledge needs no apology. It is the basis upon which this global forum is used, and marks the beginning of a learning process. Life is a learning process.

Welcome aboard.

I have been keenly interested in this topic for many years now, as I was a proponent of using the Sasol (actually Lurgi coal gasifier/FT Technology) as far back as the 1970's when we in the US started our earlier energy initiative back then.

Although I dont know of an exact source for the appropriate information, the following thought might provide a place to start researching the topic:

Directly after WWII, Chemists and Chemical Engineers from the US and other Allied countries were sent into Germany to debrief the German scientists in virtually any scientific subject area in which the German scientists were involved. [Actually, thats how the Russians and US got their information to start their rocketry programs]. One of my Professors at University was among those who were debriefing the "enemy" scientists. This information was disseminated to governmental organizations (US and elsewhere). As the Lurgi-FT technology was of great interest for fuel processing, I presume the technology would have been "transferred at that time.

Subsequent to this (about 35-40 years late), I had occasion in my fuel technology research to need scientific information about coke/coke/coal byproducts processing research developed in Germany during WWII. I asked the some German engineering acquaintances where I might get the information. After much discussion and some luck, the president (and researcher friend) of a German conglomerate we were working with provided me copies of all the information the German coke processing companies had provided to the US/others. It ran to >4800 pages of technical data. It was considered as "Top Secret" to the German companies, as they were in competition with Aamerican companies working in the same areana of science.

I guess what I am saying is that likely the information you want is available if you can find out which German companies (eg: Krupp?, Thysien?, Still?) worked on the research/development/construction of the original plants for coal-to-gasoline production. That migt be a place to start, and you would need contacts. Alternatively, perhaps someone in the US Bureau of Mines might have access to the documents you want (or know how to get them).
