If I'm not mistaken, that would be a Coriolis flow meter! Got to be quicker on the ball (or at least change the file name!!)

NEXT PLEASE.....

NEXT

If three of these flowmeters are placed in a length of pipe (with a pump and pipe returning the flow to the start) one above, one on and one below the equator.

Will the readings be the same?

And this is me just after looking at the readings!

Posted 'off topic' as a sign of remorse for spoiling the fun earlier!

It has nothing to do with the rotation of the earth. If you read their tutorial, the pipes inside vibrate. The vibration of the inlet and outlet end of the pipes get out of phase when liquid is flowing through due to the coriolis force.

Well, let me take a wild guess. Could it be a Coriolis Flowmeter?

Maybe unless they are very very precise

Naming it a Coriolis flowmeter would mean that they are using the natural deflection as observed in wind direction around the equator. If that is true the readings of above and below should be opposite with no reading on the equator.

I haven't seen one of these meters before (or maybe I had) but I suppose they are creating the spin in a chamber by offsetting the inlet. The two connections to the bottom one should face the direction of spin and the other must point downstream. A small portion would then be diverted through the bottom half where it is calmed by increasing the pipe size and measured. The measured flow would be proportional to the flow above.

I think the name is totally inappropriate.

From the site below Hendrik,

...mass flow and density measurements...

I think the Coriolis direction is set at the factory like a toilet only much more accurately from skimming the site.

So the same everywhere.
