Is there any hard and fast rule to use perforated cable tray for control cable and ladder type tray for power & EHT cables.

Consider the diameter of the respective cables, their weight and their stiffness.

On that basis, ladder is better for 'heavier' cables and tray for the 'lighter' ones.

True enough.

I've installed a few million feet of cable from fiber to service entrance.

I have small diameter cable in ladder tray with about 1' spacing, but you gotta do it really nice like to avoid the little humps and bumps on the bottom.

What type of cable and application/s?

also.. approx how many cables in runs how long.. sometimes a combo situation is needed.

sooo.. so... no hard fast rules...

Ladder looks cooler as a general ruler? few people get that part of it.

Hi,

For higher cross section cable particulary HT XLPE Cable, Power Cables Ladder tray will be useful.

Control Cables (Multi Core 2.5 sq.mm, 4.0 sq.mm cross section ) can be laid in perforated tray.
