Cable Entry

06/12/2008 8:56 AM

In most the panels the control & power cables are through bottom entry. In some Distribution boards the cable entry is through the top. Any justifiaction?

  • Bottom entry is more appropriate to situations where there is a risk of rainwater or condensation gathering in the panel, as it can be drained away easier.
  • Bottom entry is better where cables are routed to the panel via a 'false floor'.
  • Top entry: 'false ceiling', or where cables have to bridge across walkways.

Hi,

In addition to this the Cable Cross Section shall also be considered. Top entry will be more suitable not only for false ceiling but also in the case of Panels in the Ground/First Floor and the Cable routing in the Mezanaine.

Bottom entry for the panels installed over the cable trench and all the control cables & power Cables laid through the trench.

Cable weight shall also be considered considered the mechanical load on the gland plate.
