BTEC HND in telecom

plz i need ur help guys...im doin my project. my project title is digital code lock. but i dont know how to explain the hardware and software part. im using the PIC in my project. can u guys help me out.

Explain it as you would verbally.

I've often had young engineers writing reports ask me how do I saysomething or other... I would generally say 'Just write it down exactly how you said it to me'

To design the hardware and software you must understand it..if you can understand it you can explain it.

Just write it down...then read it back pretending that you have no prior knowledge of it...edit it a couple of times, then publish.

There is nothing wrong with being coloquial, it's better than being so verbose as to be incomprehensible.

You can always show it here, I'll be only to happy to knock it into shape...

Reading a 4x4 digital keypad is quite easy.

Set the signal on the 4 leads in the x direction on and read the resulting active line, note it and send the signal back on that line and you have your key identified by reading which line responds on the x side.

I 0 0 0 0

I 0 0 1 0

I 0 0 0 0

I 0 0 0 0

READ 0 0 1 0

THEN

0 0 I 0 read

0 0 0 0 0

0 0 1 0 1

0 0 0 0 0

0 0 0 0 0 == key = R2 C 3

For dual (multi) key presses you have to check for each first result separately.
