Mercedes W124

Any of you mercedes owner experience such problem. Starting the car in the morning the rpm reads 800(normal). Engine heated up; when you start the car rpm reads 500.

This happen only during starting, that is after you switch off the engine and start again.

I am not sure what happens in a MB but my ordinary engine has a heat controlled flap in the carburetor causing the same thing to happen. Without that I will be stranded with a stalling car in winter mornings.

I guess the problem is called an automatic choke.

I must tell you this. In about 1955 a old woman bought a MB and was complaining about the performance of the car. After a lot of testing and repairing they found out that she had the habit of pulling out the hand choke on the dashboard to hang her handbag.

Thank you, Hendrik.

My problem solved by a MB workshop. The problem was caused by a throttle switch spring. The throttle cable spring was not the origin MB spring. So it some times did not pull the cable back to the limit to trigger the switch. This switch give signal to the electronic control.
