Which are the basic parameters involved in the sizing a safety relief valve used in gas service?

Just one.

  • Can the valve release the required quantity of gas from the system without the system going into a hazardous overpressure condition at the most severe temperatures and pressures the system can throw at it.

suggest you read API RP520/521. Other than that, all the physical properties of the gas and all the limits of the vessel being protected.

If it is natural gas, it will need to be NACE certified
