Looking for inexpensive dc motors

07/28/2008 6:37 AM

DC motor help!!! I'm looking for a place that I could purchase dc motors that are inexpensive. I'm looking for either 1/4 or 1/3 h.p. (1/3 preferably) 24v. 90v. dc. 1800 r.p.m (1725 min), 3 amp or higher, brushless dc motors. I know this is asking alot, but the bigger the shaft size the better. I can not use anything under 1/2". I looked at hundreds of places and the cheapest I've found are around $200. I would like to keep my cost down to somewhere around $100 each or less. The motors have to be new, and I could possibly buy in bulk to keep cost down. Motors are for prototype 3 wheel pitching machine. Thanks in advance for any help. I know I'm looking for a needle in a haystack.

In the U.S. you can get an O.E.M. discount if you're an Original Equipment Manufacturer.

What is your definition of bulk? 1000 motors per month, 10,000?

If you're buying in large enough quantities you can deal directly with the DC motor manufacturer.

Is there any reason you can't use automotive motors?

Especially for 24 volt trucks... or similar...

Spares for trucks are cheap enough, I've used a windscreen wiper motor with gearbox (£12) to make my meat mincer electric powered and lethal!!!

I have to wire it 110-115v. I can use anything that I can hook to a speed control, but it has to run at least 1725 r.p.m. and I would like 1800. (I'm wanting this machine to throw close to 100 m.p.h.)The amp's have to be at the least 3, anything less than 3 it takes too long for the motor to wind back up to full strength. When I say bulk, Im probably only looking for maybe 30-60 per month. Small time. Thanks again in advance for anything I can get.

The best place I have used is for DC motors is Bodine Electric Company, but don't know if they can meet your price points.
