3) Go back to school (regardless of subjects) and join student clubs. volunteer.
4) go to meetings and carefully observe how others do it
5) Be authentic and have a sense of humor.
6) try to create "word pictures" to make a visual in the listeners brain
7) Stop talking when you are done
8) Same applies to typing
9) read books on subject especially "elements of style" by strunk and white (avoid unnecesaary words is typical of their advice.)
10) if it doesn't need to be said or doesn't help the folks involved, don't say it.
If i ever regret saying something, i usually find i violated one of the above

What I got out of my toastmaster experience above all else was the ability to give an honest evaluation /feedback through being an evaluator. Not every speech is praiseworthy, and giving helpful feedback in a constructive way doesnt come naturally to most. learning to give feedback was a great takeaway both personally and professionally.

Same here. After I got my CTM (CC now), I took on more evaluation roles than speaking roles because it was something I thought I sorely lacked. A bit rusty at first and I'm afraid I rubbed a few TMs the wrong way but I eventually got the hang of it.
Still delivering speeches though. My work, unfortunately, has taken some time away from my Toastmaster's attendance but I'm working to address that too.
