Cleaning a Laptop CD Drive

09/16/2008 8:57 AM

It is an Emachine model M5312 and the cd drive door won't open when Eject is chosen. Emachines says it needs to be cleaned. The computer recognizes it as drive D but often cannot read it. I would gladly clean it if I knew how to get the thing open. Does anyone have the information one needs to open the computer?

If you're user of any Windows OS, you could try out choose your CD drive icon [on My Computer or Explorer] by means of right-click of PC-mouse [right button of touch pad] then at roll down pop-up menu choose the "Eject" option.

If it won't help: Turn your laptop off. Look at your CD panel on laptop. Near eject button you have to notice the hole. You can use something like a straightened out clip or thick wire to insert at that hole for make your CD door realized. Do it carefully.

Hope it helps.
