Mechanical Sifter qualification

Hi guys,

What are the critical parameters to look for in qualifyng a mechanical sifter or sieving grading and straining machine?

depends on your product and quality needs as well as output.

actually i'm in pharmaceutical company. and i need to develop a protocol to qualify the sifter. and i have no idea about this machine.

Lacking knowledge about a machine is not uncommon, but it's not the end of the world either. I was once asked to qualify a machine I knew nothing about and this is how I approached it.

My first step was to read the proposal that the machine supplier provided us against the requirements my boss gave the supplier. Then I thought about the worse case the machine would see and to my surprise, my worse case was nothing compared to what the machine suppliers claimed to be capable of providing. So, I took the spec's from the proposal and told the supplier that his spec's were fine, then I held up his spec's and said we were going to test to his spec's and verify the machine could do what they said it could do.

In my case, the machine used up only 10% of the tolerance allowed by the suppliers own spec's. In the end, the machine performed perfectly for many years.
