Ozone enviornment adhesive, sealant &/or bonding agents.

Please advise if the adhesive/sealant you need, has to remain flexible during its life.

Please also advise temperature range of the equipment + adhesive/sealant.

Advise which brand/type of "Commercial Silicone" failed please.

Dear sir, first of all thanks for your time, No it doesn't have to remain flexible, Temp range -5 to + 40 C ( 23 to 104 F ). I used several DOW Coning silicon only because it's my company's main supplier, so if there is anything different i would appreciate the tip. I've tried to keep away from adhesives / sealants & stick to 316 L SS pipe fiitings with tephlon, viton, hypalon etc.. gaskets or welded or anything similar to manufacturer but during operation and maintainance because it's an off shore operation i need a fix or flexible quick solution, again Thank you so much.

I'm on the mechanical r&d side, but the chem guys are the leaders in the adhesive industry. they invented chemlock (bonds metal to rubber) among other household name brand adhesives.

if they don't make what you are looking for, ask them to make it; if they see a potential market they may.

Thank you sir for your reply however Chemlok, Rohm & Haas , Bayer all those metal to rubber bonding agent manufacturers don't have products applicable to my application + my application is so small it's not wourth it i guess, again thank you for your time & concern.

Adhesives are not used in high concentration ozone applications because of the risk of solvent being introduced in the generator. All piping joints and connections need to be "dry". This includes metal to metal swage connections (stainless steel), flanges with ozone resistant gaskets.

Note that this also applies to the air/oxygen feed. Oil cannot be tolerated in the compressor and the oxygen must be dry to a -65C dew point minimum. Any trace of hydrocarbon in the feed gas will reduce the life of your generator.

What happens in the ozone generator is an extremely aggressive chemical reaction with plasma and you want to avoid any contaminants. This is specially true in high concentration / high volume units such as the Ozonia's OZAT.

Ozone leaks can be dangerous. Don't try to patch them with caulk. If you don't have the proper material, call the manufacturer and they will sell you the proper replacement parts or send a professional to fix it. Be safe.

The gasket material used is "VITON". This is a trademark. Other materials do not last as long when exposed to high ozone concentration.

Thank you sir for your time and concern replying my question i really didn't think it will get any attention, anyway, I have contacted the manufacturer thru my company's R & D who constructed the system i'm working on & the thing was as you recommended the 316 L SS which we already use , but sometimes i need to change the discharge outlet location or do an extension or any quick easy fix while operating off shore & i can not shut down for long, but yes i totally understand the risk with leaks & exposure to HiConc of Ozone but operation can't shut down, thank you sir i'll try my best to be as safe as possible.You take care.

We use "Swagelok" connectors with flexible teflon tubing for temporary hook-ups. We rarely have leaks with this technique. You should not need to use anything else than some teflon tape on the threads.
