The 'Brain' Challenge

09/26/2008 4:13 PM

If you're sat at home bored, see if you can work out how many triangles there are in

this drawing!

First correct answer gets a GOOZ Card!

Lets see, 19 plus an extra 6x2 and the big one = a total of 32 triangles.

Re: The 'Brain' Challenge

I counted 24.

I did a quick hand sketch, labeled the vertices, and listed the triangles alphabetically by vertices. I could have done it in AutoCAD, but I didn't want to take the time. I might do that later, especially if my fan base on CR4 demands it. (Yeah, right! The only fan base I have is attached to the device that is blowing air at me right now.)

I'm not sure if a mathematical method exists for solving this one, because not all triangles have 2 common vertices as in the other one.

Well, I did the AutoCAD thing anyway, to check my work. Final count is 28.

I labeled the vertices top to bottom, left to right, outside then inside. If I have missed any, let me know. If I have listed one that isn't there, let me know that too.

The 'Brain' Challenge : I say " EIGHTEEN " Guest Carl

Have you thought of where some unusual names come from? EI: " A Grass Widow"

(1) The Wife of A Ranger who died Fighting Prairie Fires.

(2) The Wife of a Tired Worker Who, While Waiting for His Supper Call, Fell asleep in the Tall Grass & Never Woke Up.

(3) The Wife who Got Married In Honolulu, Her Husband Got taken away by The Native Girls Wearing Grass Skirts.

(4) The Wife who was married to Mr. Grass, And She Out Lived Him.(which could be all of the above.

GOOZ is a CR4 specific acronym for Get Out Of Zimbabwe.

A bit like a get out of Gaol free card in monopoly.
