We used to use a 'Manometer' instrument most of the time to have a clue of volume and speed supply but I Believe you'll be getting it also by the help of thermometers all around as well, just in case! And sometimes you may use and apply some duct fan boosters if neccessaraly as well and good when there are duct heaters in the branches my friends. Allset have fun with it and easy does it...
Yep. A pitot-tube converts velocity into a pressure-head, which can be read by a simple U-tube manometer. Do a traverse across the duct and obtain the average velocity. Multiply it by the duct area and do the units conversion. Job done.
