level measurement

10/20/2008 12:03 AM

I got a batch reactor (cc 1500 mmWC) which operates under vacuum and 4 kg/cm2 conditions for a chemical.

But the transmitter manufacturers recommond for DP level remote seal transmitters but of 80NB why is it so 40 NB sized flange d DPT should work what's your suggessions?

Regards,

sanjiv Patil.

On the basis of diaphragm area, an 80ø connection will be more accurate and therefore more easily available than a 40ø one.

by how much? 40NB they mention accuracy around 0.07% and for 80NB 0.067% does it really matters?

You aren't as interested in the instrument accuracy as you are about the measurement accuracy. 1500 mmWC is around 2 psi and is a small measurement. A larger face will give you a more accurate measurement. Since pressure is a function of area, a larger area will multiply the force and gives the amplifier a better signal to noise ratio.

when we are using DPT without Extended flange then same sensor has less accuracy that what you mean to say?

Yes, exactly. A larger surface area is more sensitive to small differences in pressure.
