Friction Materials Literature

11/07/2008 9:55 PM

Hello everyone,

I would like to know if someone have some literature about friction materials. I've

got the "Facts about Friction" book, but I've like to know some more recent, with actual developments.

Thanks for the help!

Hello gellert:

It would help to know exactly you are looking for? That book is $150!

the book you mention was published in 1995. I doubt there have been any updates to the frictional details in the book but you could try this site.

http://www.factsaboutfriction.com/2007.news.163.htm

This has lots of info' in friction surfaces etc.

Take care

Hello Guest,

Why not join?.........It is great!

How dare you not give me a GA for my splendid reply!!!.......Joking of course.

If you have the Globalspec Menu-Bar, have you tried to un-install and re-install it, to get back the functions of the "Button"?

Many thanks.................

Take care....................

Dear Bruno Gellert,

UFSC is near your location, ask my friend Walter Weingaertner (at Laboratorio de Presisao) , he should know something about your topic. (And tell him I did send you.)

If there is not enough information and the many links provided by other posters are not giving enough insights then you should search NASA websites for their special publications. Author: Ku, Title 1: An interdisciplinary approach to friction and wear, title 2: ... liquid lubricant technology.

Both pretty old now but nonetheless worth while to study.

Hello everyone!

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the information!

I think I need to explain a little more what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about brakes and clutches, and the reason I said "Friction Materials" was that's a common name, but I didn't realized how it could be so widely used.

Talking about UFSC: I started a group of studies in this subject at the Laboratório de Mecânica de Preisão (Lboratory of precision Mechanics), guided by Walter Weirgartner.

The info I need to know, is related about materials of friction materials, and the whole chemistry behind it.

Also some application notes will be also usefull, like processes of production and so.

So, I'll check the links above and if you could help me with these subject, explained rightly now, I would be very satisfied!

Thanks again for the patient and the help!

Hello gellert:

It may be useful if you can be specific.

Are you talking ceramic, or not so specialised? For everyday care, or for trucks? High speed or to work with high torque?

All helps.........

Hello gellert:

I know you mention just about evey type of brakeing material. But you have to start somewhere. Are you aiming at a particular spec, I mean, it is a very large subject.
