and malware programmers have always been very creative about finding
news ways to attack your computer. The point of this is not always to
spy out new vulnerable spots (exploits) or to infiltrate trojans, nor
to develop more efficient disguise functions. At the moment, fake
anti-spyware programs are one threat among others that is spreading
rapidly. Of course the evil has a name: Rogue Anti-Spyware.
Rogue anti-spyware lives up to its name. Roguish anti-spyware, that
means software which is supposed to protect against spyware? (Read more

This sounds funny at first, but it is another serious threat exploiting
unsophistication and ignorance of many internet users. Imagine you
install a software and expect that it would protect you from spyware.
But instead of protections you get exactly what you were trying to
avoid - spyware.
Types of Rogue Anti-Spyware
Experts basically distinguish between two types of rogue anti-spyware -
One the one hand side there are programs that do really include a
scanner, which is however miserably programmed and contains far too few
signatures - they can hardly detect any spyware at all. The creators'
aim is in most cases simply to make money, because anti-spyware
normally costs some and there always are some people who will buy the
program. However, the purchase is only good for salving one's
conscience, but certainly it's not good against spyware. One the other
handy side, the second type of rogue anti-spyware is even worse, as it
doesn't even provide a low level of protection, the opposite is the
case - they are real spyware programs that settle in with the operating
system so deeply that they are often hard to remove again.....">
