Google Gadget

11/18/2008 9:36 AM

Ok, I did a search to see if there had been any discussion on this topic and didn't find anything, so if I missed it I apologize profusely (Short of giving up any GA's though!).

So to the point, I was on my iGoogle page and thought it would be cool if there was a gadget for CR4. So I searched the gadgets, Lo and Behold there is indeed a CR4 gadget. However the gadget is limited to merely asking a question.

Perhaps the CR4 administrators could provide a gadget that posts the recent discussions and engineering news items, much like CNN or Techdirt does. This way we could all stay abreast of the CR4 goings on and obtain a few good answers before Sparky (Ok so maybe we don't all have the sage wisdom of Sparky) does. What do ya'll think?

I use Firefox on Linux and there is a Googlen toolbar, quite handy!!

The Googlle toolbar can also be downloaded for IE explorer.

I disabled mine on my XP - PC because it prevented me from opening local sites and my e-mail account on the server at work. It also claimed superiority over my AV program.

Hi DAG,

Actually, we do have an iGoogle gadget for CR4 as well as a number of other Globalspec properties.

Here's the link for the CR4 gadget on iGoogle.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for your reply. I found the CR4 gadget, but was wondering if could be expanded to include links to the current discussions and questions kind of like CNN does with their news stories.

Hi DAG,

Unfortunately, that improvement is not in our current resource budget. For the time being, you can go to this page:

http://cr4.globalspec.com/rss/rss_use?feedUrl=%2Frss%2Fall

and add the CR4 RSS feed to your iGoogle.

I'm disappointed that it's not in the budget...However, I never thought about an RSS feed. I just added it!

Thanks!

Unfortunately, that also falls under "improvement not in our current resource budget."

Hello DAG

Please note I have posted very little over the past few days, to give you a chance to be first with your replies.

Hope you made use of the opportunity.

Kind Regards....

Hello DAG:

You could perhaps put a CR4 shortcut on the igoogle page? And or a link to the CR4 Toolbar.
