Hi Tech Hoist Motor

01/06/2009 2:46 PM

Is anyone familiar with elevator (hoist) winch motors as used by Hi Tech Hoists in Melbourne, Florida? I have contacted them asking for details, but so far, I haven't heard or received anything from anyone.

The hoist is probably around 15 to 20 years old and is not one of their standard models, and there were no nameplates on either the hoist framework or the motor, other than a nameplate with "Hi Tech Hoist Melbourne, FL." It was removed from a manufacturing plant, and of course, someone cut all the wires. The control box has a wiring diagram without color codes or wire numbers, and none of the cut wire ends on the motor match with cut wire ends in the control box, dang it!

I am going to dangerously assume that they would have used a motor similar to ones for their standard line of products.

Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to shed a little light on the subject. I'm not wild about taking the motor apart to see what's what.

Bill

I have worked with Hoist mfr. for long time. We used to mfr Hoists for industry not for passenger lifts. Hoist Motors used by us had high starting torque around 150% of running torque. It was reversing motor, with permissible 150 ON/off cycles per hour. Class "B" insulated in normal conditions. Duty cycle of 40%. IP55 protected enclosure.

This copy of the diagram is as good as it gets.

The Hi Tech Hoist model number is MZ1000. Parts list shows no part number for motor, and there is no nameplate. So far, no explicit help from HTH.

Motor is single phase, reversible, six-lead.

Thanks to all, Bill

Hi, That's agood start! Now can you tell us whether the terminal strip shown just above the motor is on the motor assembly or in the control box?

You're not talking to an idiot here . . . The terminal strip is in the control box. I am quite familiar with similar controls and other much more complicated devices. I specifically asked if anyone had experience with Hi Tech Hoists (brand name of manufacturer). If you haven't, then you cannot possibly have an answer for me.

By the way, I'm a professional electrical engineer with 30+ years exeprience in electrical equipment design, electronics design, engineering R&D, control systems design, robotics (including motor design for same), and motor design for a number of other applications, etc., etc.
