If you have MSWord there is a drawing program that you can use that is part of the package. You can see some examples of what can be done at:

http://www.hydraulicspneumatics.com/200/eBooks/

These books were all done in MSWord including the Cutaway drawings with the features shown in the Basic book. The circuits book is almost 100% schematics.

Check out Solid Edge Free 2D Drafting. I tried it and it works very well.

Google Sketchup with the Sketchyphysics add on in amazing and free. Very intuitive interface.

you need to download sketchup first from google (go to 'more'.,.. the go to 'even more')

then go to sketchyphysics.com and download the add on and restart.

Google sketchup has great tutorials in video form. Ther is also a huge warehouse of user created tools and component for reference or use.

I have used the free CAD program "PCB123" for years professionally.

I think it was on the freeware or shareware site. Try a google search for "PCB123".

But, I don't think you will make Blue Prints from any of them!

Sorry to be off a bit, but could you tell me what exactly "windos ep" is? I cannot find anything on the web, or did you mean Windows XP?

If yes, Home or Professional?

With accurate infos, we can help you far better.

Whats wrong with the old pencle and paper way. I've been designing for 32 years and still do it that way. No mistakes and anyone that sees my drawings knows exactly who designed it. Still artwork. I am cad literate and hate it.....always will draw by hand.

Hi,

A CAD software that provides 2D, as well as 3D functions, can be used by professionals but that should also come at an affordable price. Easy DWG to PDF conversion and powerful designing tools can ease up the work.

I am a user of ActCAD and am quite satisfied with every function and the price is also reasonable.

I like IntelliCAD, by Cadopia. I paid $160 (US) for the basic, primarily 2D version. It is so much like AutoCAD that you can use AutoCAd menus, AutoLISP programs, and AutoCAD commands on the command line.

Do a GOOGLE on Allycad. It is a South African company and they have a version that is free, full featured, and the only restriction is on the size of the output file. It is very powerful with a programmable macro facility.

They periodically offer updates and the free version includes a series of toolkits for different types of drafting.
