Engineers: Can I "interview" you?

02/07/2009 11:38 AM

Hi, everyone. This is my first post but I'll probably be around here a lot. I'm a mechanical engineering major at LSU and have a project on mechanical engineering in the real world that requires a brief interview with a professional mechanical engineer, which can be done online with a list of questions.

Is anyone interested in helping me out with this? Basically I'd just send you a list of short-answer questions like what types of writings are required on a regular basis (reports? drawings?). I'd greatly appreciate it. If anyone's interested in helping out a new engineer, let me know. Thanks!

There are lies, bad lies and statistics. If you want to top that ask an engineer some questions. You will have to use a filter of some kind at some time. Hope you get what you are after, all the best, Ky.

A number of problems here:

1. Mechanical engineers are not really engineers - they are just failed electricial engineering students.

2. Are you seriously expecting mechanical engineers to be able to use a keyboard or even turn on a computer?

3. "Professional mechanically engineers" - now really where did you hear about those? Did Santa Claus tell you that they existed and helped him build toys in the North Pole.

Sometimes you will come across an electrical engineer who is smart enough to be able to complete the CR4 register steps.

Gooooooooooooo Tigers!!!!!!!!

I wish I was a professional engineer, we could have coffee in the Lair at the Union and have an interview. I graduated 1977 Nuclear Science. Good luck and have a great & rewarding future.

Why not publish your questions HERE!! I know we have several Mech types who would gladly help. We have done this sort of thing before. I personally am Electronics, so I get to sit back and watch.
