List Generator

02/15/2009 10:47 AM

I would like to present here, a very useful but very rare application, which also happens to be a freeware - a computerized directory content List-Generator.

This little piece of software is highly recommended, and during the last five years proved itself invaluable for long and complicated lists, to document the contents of drives, directories and sub-directories.

It has a simple GUI (please note all the available options), and is very easy to operate.

It is a run-times program, meaning it doesn't need installation, just keep the program (LS.exe) and it's support-file (LS.ini) within it's own directory, anywhere you like, and run it from a valid short-cut.

Since it was never supported or upgraded, it's probably a brilliant one-shot written by a programmer, for his own use, then shared with the world in 2003.

I hope you will like it as I do, and find it useful.

Enjoy,

That is rather handy, could only be improved by inclusion into the Explorer toolbar.

Wish you posted this two weeks ago. My hard drive/mobo failed and I've had to recover lost files from a corrupted os to transfer them onto a new hd.

I'll fix it for you as soon as I'll have a decent Time-Machine

P.S: When I was a child, my mother used to say "You should have thought of it before you (did this or that)...

Forget it man. You'll need the patience of Job, a time machine and a significant portion of your mind to lose to figure out what I've done. The reason for that is because I had no idea what I was doing...or rather .....cannot possibly remember if I ever have to do it again.

It's exactly like, I need my glasses to find where I last put my glasses...

Or

You need to prove to your bank that you don't need their loan in order to get one

There will come a day when bank managers will slowly burn in hell.

But you're right. I thought I'd figure out how to use the diagnostic sw or pay $1200 to get my data recovered. Maybe start up a new business etc etc

Next time I'll pay the $1200.

Data recovery shouldn't cost that much.

It just isn't right, that some "blessed" few would take so much for it.

One should be able to do it.

Not exactly the same thing. I had a blown hd which would not spin up and needed I to access the sectors on the disc. This is where the diagnostic software came in handy....ie.......I needed to know which sector was still 'alive'. From there it took 20+ hrs to download into a functioning hd.

That's the easy part. The hard part is that the os and boot memory is also corrupted when downloading into a new hd. Installing a new os only works in yet another hd....at least that's how I had to do it. I'm sure some digi architect could have done this in minutes.
