Electrical Switchgear Ratings

03/04/2009 8:04 PM

What is the difference between AC 21, AC 22 and AC 23 ratings when looking at contactors and switchgear coming from Germany?

Any help is appreciated.

Check out http://support.automationdirect.com/docs/capacitychart_a.pdf

to start, this is a basic explanation. If you need more info, you will need to look deeper into IEC low voltage switchgear.

AC ratings are utilisation factors. AC 2 is slip-ring motor contactor. Subsequent numbers relate as 1 to PF, 2 min time etc Refer to AS/NZ 60947 or therabouts Thhis is acopy of the IEC standards

Siemens and Allen Bradley, GE and Square D are the ones I've worked on.

Not a problem,

All of these companies are world wide. Everything is Global now. Actually AB has been for about 30 years or more, Siemens I believe is rooted in Germany, I could be wrong on that though. GE is local, but Global and Schneider took over Sq D several years ago which are also Global. I am sure there are others, The ones I named are the units I have worked on and or sold when I was an AB distributor.
