A little more info is needed to make a better recommendation but these usually work.

This one cuts up to 2" pipe they make them in different sizes.

Define 'big'...
'Big' to me isn't the same as 'big' to the oil industry.

Any sort of cutting is bound to generate heat

If you mean that you can not gas cut/Arc cut then

best is follow the leader cat. Cut with a Hack-Saw

You can cut with a normal electrical grinder with a parting wheel.

Check whether laser heat can be withstood by your system.

Then you have waterjet cutting (heard the name never seen in operation).

I cut a cast iron drain pipe with a chain cutter (don't know if that's the right name).
It's like a chain with cutting wheels, you wrap it around the pipeand slowly tighten it whilst turning it around the pipe using a handle arrangement.
I'd think you could get upto a fair size with one of those...it's a bit like a big version of the pipe cutter previously posted.

These are used to cut tail pipes, normally. They work well in confined spaces.

Should work on this guys pipe, even though we don't know what kind of pipe it is!

Is this a repair? or is it new fabrication?

If new fabrication then water jet cutting mentioned by SB is an option.

If repair work how much clearance do you have?

What is the diameter of the pipe?

Of what is it made?

I recommend explosives.

Or Livermore has a new laser producing little collateral damage.

Short of these water cutting is very safe.

A good-old hammer and a cold chisel can work wonders over time.

Yeh! as with the others, how big is the pipe?

For diameters up to about 250mm cold-cut saws are common, hereabouts, and they're fairly cheap to buy. Wall thickness is a consideration too. Light tube will tear under an aggressive cold saw.

More info please.

Stu.

We have been using high pressure water jet for cutting pipes where flammble gas would inadvertently be released during our shutdown.

You are a typical person who asks questions on CR4, you do not have the simple imagination to either give sizes or materials, which would make answering your question far far easier.......DUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH!!!!

Thank to all

I went offshore for site survey this job and could not update your helps.

Offshore not allow to gas cut/arc cut. Max pipe size is 8" sch 80. I understood that we can use a big saw, or water jet but not sure how to apply on site.

Use a cold-cut saw. They're not expensive to buy, and you'll have it forever. If there's no power- take your own generator. These're also cheap now.

One of these saws will cut 8" if you rotate the pipe and second-cut. You'll need a supply of cutting oil/coolant too.

Cheers,

Stu.

Try to find a German Air Saw, they usually do not require a Hot Work Permit because they are pneumatic. I have used this tool with success on shutdowns when the existing line had hydrocarbons and other nasty flammables.
