CR4 Citizen of the Week

03/16/2009 1:48 PM

Kudos to BobD.

In this thread, his answers are 1. correct (at least I am convinced so) 2. crystal clear, 3. patient, 4. polite, and 5. enlightening. If you read through this thread, you will see that there are things about e=mc2 that I had assumed (based on observations and some things we all "know", such as the "fact" that light does not weight anything -- after all, photons have no rest mass, right?) that were incorrect.

There are those of you who know this stuff inside out, and might find that my posts in this thread make your eyes roll. Posters less tactful that BobD might have started out posts like his to me, with something like this: "Ken, if you were not so obstinate and apparently incapable of reading, assimilating material, and then making logical inferences, then you would realize that..."

But instead, BobD "kept on keeping on" politely and patiently, until I understood the errors of my thinking, and I gained some knowledge and perspective in the process. For those of you who do not know this stuff inside out, you can learn something from his posts (as well as those from others who have the good sense to agree with him).

That's what CR4 is all about, and BobD exemplifies the respect for both science and people that sets CR4 apart from the average forum.

(BTW there is no official "citizen of the week at CR4" -- but maybe there should be?)

Ken,

All of us at CR4 had a meeting, and voted you to be in charge of this. what. . you didn't receive an invite to this important meeting. .. .I'll look into it.

There are others on this site, thats consistantly does this.

So I'll help you for next week, because your invite is still in the mail.

Abdel Halim Galala

His quality of answers are the same as the 5 you stated plus he would go one step farther.

I enjoy reading his replys

Hey Ken, I don't know how I missed that thread! That stuff is so incredibly interesting to me and enjoyed reading each and every comment. Thanks for bringing that up in the general discussion portion!! I always welcome that kind of banter. Sorry I missed that one. Seems and though the thread has faded. But I too learned something from reading it, which I believe is the point!

Add my vote. He pulled me across too.

Let's hope he sticks around.

i agree with and appreciate the views expressed in CR4 citizen of the week.

people who pose questions in the forum can be categorised into raw layman, informed, well informed or an expert generally or in his/her field. sometimes the question posed may look stupid to many or it might have been done incorrectly or unclearly. while a light hearted leg pulling is desirable, looking down upon the questioner for his 'ignorance' should be avoided. also, many a times the english used by the questioner may be inadequate. some understanding, patience and politeness need to be excerised by all of us. right to post questions on the forum from worldwide is equal to all wherever they are from.
