Measuring Solar Irradiation for PV Panels

03/18/2009 6:08 AM

Hi guys,

This is my first post here ..

Would appretiate if someone could enlighten me, if there is a way to measure the wavelength of the specific component of irradiation from the sun that causes heat?

The objective of my asking this, is to identify and eliminate just that specifc component of heat from the solar ir-radiation, to better improve perfomance of a solar PV panel..

See also "Measuring Solar Radiation," and "Solar Radiation."

Use filters that pass different wavelengths of radiation and a broadband sensor, if you want to determine how much each wavelength band passes.

Hi Bill,

Tks for your reply :)

Is it possible to use non-contact infrared temperature sensors for this purpose? where can i read more on broad band sensors?

tks a million
