Well there is plenty of information available on the internet. Try a google search for it (there are plenty of free downloadable handbooks and information documents on the subjects of instrumentation and measurement). Also try looking at instrumentation company websites as they generally have white papers and training material to help further your knowledge in the fields you are interested in.

There's much information here. Look under "reference":

http://www.omega.com/

and here:

http://www.engineeringtalk.com/index.html

I have more links at work, and will pass them along tomorrow.

Try taking a list of instrumentation makes, derived from locally-installed instruments, and poke them into a search engine. Most, if not all, instrumentation manufacturers have a wealth of information available on their websites, often in a number of languages.

Where are you working now?

When I went into instrumentation, it was with an instrumentation contractor. I learned on the job. Fortunately, my employer took me in even though I had no experience. All I knew was how to fix TVs and radios.

You can try visiting various instrumentation and controls websites. They've got a wealth of information. Here are a few:

http://www.controleng.com/
http://www.controlglobal.com/
http://www.controlguru.com/

Also, sign up with GlobalSpec. They've got newsletters that can give you all sorts of things.

regards,

Vulcan
