Standard Icon For .STEP Files?

i am trying to make 3d models of my companys products avaiable online and was wounder if there is a standard icon for this file extention, simmilar to a .pdf or .doc.

Do the .step files contain G-code?

Then it may respond to .NC = (Numerical Control)

If you are not sure copy and past some of the contents of the file.

None that I'm aware of. My .step/.stp files come with Acads default Icon. (even though i use Solidworks for .step)

Why don't you try to display them as pics,

Am doing that now after design the 3D model ,I export it to pics then using them.

you must understand that step files are neutral format files, so no specific standard icons. please note that .pdf is due to Adobe and .doc is due to microsoft. for your case, you can create a simple tab with .stp, and use it everywhere you want, atleast your web pages will have uniformity. i did it similarly when i used dxf and iges format.

interpreting the step file is not done primarily by browser, it has to be done either by add-on plugin or by a independent software.
