Trimos Height Gage Vertical 1000

My Height Gage is not working properly . This is not showing any result by moving the rotation wheel up & down. Its only showing 71.000 on the LCD.

Could anyone help me in this regard.

Remove power (battery/AC adapter) and reapply power after a few minutes. Contact Fowler, www.fvfowler.com as necessary.

Try replacing your battery, if so equipped. If that doesn't work, try cleaning the sensor and the scale it runs over with denatured alcohol. On some units, you have to press and hold the zero button for several seconds to make it respond, or to change back from HOLD, which may have been inadvertanly pressed.

I have used contact cleaner to clean its sensor and its IC's. After cleaning operation , no result found . The problem is still alive and showing 71.000 on its LCD screen

Does this mean a "Height Gauge" is an altimeter? or is it something like a laser which measures say .01 mm above a flat plane. I never heard of an altimeter being referred to as a height gauge.
