Was it on the top, or bottom, of your nut?

the mark is on the bottom of the nut. the class mark (4 6 8 ...) is also pressed on the bottom of the nut.

That is not to wrench the nut away from you. It is only for loosening it. It is very sad that you have started behaving like scrat

We are only trying to help you. We just don't like to have your nut screwed.

Re: Manufacturer Marks for Nuts

Really why should you bother about the make (manufacturer) of the nut/ fastener ?

If you want to replace it, you know the size, you already have the grade, just get one. Identifying the manufacturer by the logo is not a simple work and it is not worth the effort (except some cases - where the application demands it or in case of failure analysis, but in these acses, the OEM can always identify it)

We keep a track of the logos (including the usages in these types of acses where the systems and procedures demands it) but that for our regular identified vendors only.

For a user, the application (material), size and the grade is sufficient.

Hi, Guest!

Had you not made this off-topic, I would have given it a GA for original thinking.

As it is, I'm giving it one anyway. If anyone else likes your post, they can add theirs, and we can drag your negative five rating up to a GA.

Here we go to negative four!

Wasn't logged in (you can see from the pic name - it's a K bolt). GA's on this is just gravy, but it's nice of you to do so.

Re: Manufacturer Marks for Nuts

why do think these marks have any significance at all ?? was the nut previously installed? was there a lock washer ?...are the marks on the complete surface? if so are they machined? or simply galled from contact wear ..what does the nut secure?..is the material stainless?.. non magnetic??.. is the nut drilled to accept safety wire? what style of nut is it? ( castellated , self locking ) ?

I suggest you contact a nut house for advice, or perhaps, Squirrell Inc, Investigators, they are the real experts on tough-to-crack nut cases.

There are certainly medications and cosmetic surgeries available for the condition described. Good luck.

In appearance, I believe it is an old Football injury that did not receive the TLC that it should have......

Only a Nutcase would show such pictures on the web....

My animated Nutkick.gif is not animated anymore, anyone know why?

Hi, My guess is that the photo tells you if the threads are CW or CCW, but I don´t know. There are also other marks used for that purpose.
