Most dams and nuclear reactor buildings are monolithic concrete structures, but high heat is one of the problems, so ice is often used to reduce it.
Forming ordinary buildings for monolithic is not economically feasible, as forms can be stripped and reused on the next level, whereas if poured monolithically, all forms would have to be in place at once.
