Indestructible Construction

04/21/2009 10:13 AM

Completed a monolithic concrete dome in Inverness, Florida. This module will be off the grid and am seeking a solar company to install an array.

Why are not more structures being built using monolithic concrete construction?

I don't know anything about, got a link?

And kudos for what I presume is a goal of hurricane resistance!

<...Why are not more structures being built using monolithic concrete construction?...>

A WW2

resisted the attentions of a

fitted with a pecker for the best part of a week before reduction to a pile of rubble.

Upon inspection of the remains, the mass of reinforcing wire came close to the mass of the concrete.....

I apologize for the web site being slow to upload. I have went back and reduced the photos and hopefully this will allow the site to upload faster.

I have numerous photos on the web site because I believe that a photo is worth a thousand words especially when doing a new concept.

www.safedomes.com

Been to Normandy Beaches and throughout the world I have seen structures that have lasted millineums, the dome being just one.

I love a photo, but if one buckets them elsewhere and uses lower resolutions on the front page then you get faster loads with high res available with a click.

Most dams and nuclear reactor buildings are monolithic concrete structures, but high heat is one of the problems, so ice is often used to reduce it.

Forming ordinary buildings for monolithic is not economically feasible, as forms can be stripped and reused on the next level, whereas if poured monolithically, all forms would have to be in place at once.

Why are not more structures being built using monolithic concrete construction?

A) It's rather resource intensive compared to standard building practices (Steel-reinforced concrete 10 feet by 9 feet, weight 9 tons).

B) It's totally unnecessary in MOST places (unless you live in places nicknamed "tornado alley", etc).

Personally I prefer my bunkers underground, they cost less, offer more protection and are more environmentally friendly.
