"and then draw p&i diagrams direct"

So you are lazy and do not want to do any thinking or real work yourself. If there was such a program, the company would not need you at all.

No work, no pay.

Possibly you did not ask your original question correctly.

Do you want to try again?

Being "lazy" has resulted in the development of potent software. Not only to save time and effort but to enable more or better work. But to develop software (and even to use it) one must have a sound knowledge of the subject.

With computers anything is possible and I would be surprised if someone has not developed something already.

But I agree with you about lazy people.

There are several programs that can be used to create P&IDs. One of the simplest is Visio. Of course, AutoCad can be used as well as Smart Plant. Once you have you P&IDs developed you can then do your material take-offs(this can be automated depending on your software) and develop equipment and instrument specs. I don't think that there is a program that can take equipment and instrument specs and then create a P&ID. Somehow the processing order etc. would need to be input which is the same as developing the drawings.

If you create symbols in a CAD package you can easily drag and drop your components into a diagram.

Given a sequential list of components it would also be possible to draw a diagram but fitting everything on a page may be hard.

At http://www.gwis.co.za is a program that can be extended to do it but at this stage "no thank you".
