Helical Gear

04/25/2009 2:08 PM

Kindly confirms how tangential force can be distributed to helical gears? suppose three teeth are in contact. Whether it is based on contact ratio?

what is the general formaula used to calculate contact ratio?

How line of contact is drawn in helical gear. It's based on helix angle or pressure angle?

The study of contact will be greatly helped by the use of a simple cardboard model or a computer animation. The best contact point would be where the tangent line crosses the pitch. On a helical gear there is always a spot on this point. The other spots will all contribute at a lesser value.

I will have to search for formula but so can you.

Is the shape based on the involute?
