Controller Failure

Hi, We had a hotwater system controller failure.I was wondering, generally what could be possible reasons for a controller failure in a plant environment.

What sort of failure? Overvoltage? Did someone stand on it and break it?

The most common failures typically don't require an explanation. Fork lift collision with hot water heater. Plumber closes wrong valve for maintenance. Those that require more subtle interpretation of the available data require available data.

The first thing to look for in hot water systems is the temperature sensors, in which case it is not the controller but the sensors, another possiblility is that the controller may be old and the internal long life battery used to retain programming may have died.
