Nope, guess again.

Select a local source for compressors and contact them. Use the net to research the companies website.

Check Globalspec.com.

Me too (June 13) - that split personality throws people a lot of the time.

I'm on the cusp of Taurus, 5-22. Double curse!

June 13 is my wife's birthday.

Ruban the size of your compressor has nothing to do with the number of outlets.

It has to do with the air consumption of the devices you will have plug into them.

Add up the the consumption of the devices. You will want to add to it for leaks about 30%. And look to the future for any additions. Accessories will include a storage tank, a dryer and filters. Cost will depend on the consumption.

Ruban,

I would first determine what pressure you need for the devices that you plan to run on your compressed air then add up the cfm's of all the devices. This will give you a rough idea of your consumption and like Ozzb said you need to allow for leaks and equipment that you may be using in the future so you add in those numbers also. You would then select your compressor based on these numbers. You will come up with numbers like 500cfm @ 120psig for example. Typically you will get 3 to 5 cfm per hp depending on the type of compressor you select. I would opt for a premium efficiency motor to drive the compressor - it will save you a lot in the long run.

If you are going to be using the air for any pneumatic type controls you want an unit that gives you "oil free" air so you don't clog or gum up any small orifices or pistons etc. You should also be aware that excessive oil "carry over" in the air can create an explosive mixture. Air from a system such as this should NEVER be used for any breathing air purpose.

You will need to select a dryer. A refrigerated type will give you a dew point of no lower than 32F. A desiccant type will get your dew point down to -20F or -30F or so. If your equipment gets exposed to temps below freezing you will need a desiccant dryer to keep your system water and ice free. Your air header and associated lines should be pitched so any water runs back to your tank/receiver. Install an automatic blow down valve on the bottom of your tank/receiver to get rid of any water that may collect there.

You may need some accessories like filters and lubricators for pneumatic tools.

Good luck with your project. Ed
