Once, while hunting rattlesnakes, I happened upon a baby blue racer about 6" long. Thinking it might make an interesting pet, I grabbed it and took it home. Since I didn't have a herpetarium to place the snake into for the overnight, I instead found a round bottle about 2" in diameter and about 8" high. I reasoned that the bottle would be suitable, since it was taller than the snake was long, and figured the young racer hadn't yet learned how to jump.
Come morning, when I checked the bottle, I discovered that it was empty. So, I called to my young sons to see if they had let the snake out of the bottle to play with it. They all denied having done so, so we set about searching the house for the snake, and soon found it hiding under a sofa. I still didn't believe that the snake had gotten itself out of the bottle, so I placed it back in to see what it would do. It immediately showed me how it got out. So, how did it do it?
