In Pune, India, there is mfr. who provides retrofits for ordinary lathes and other machines for conversion to CNC machines.

Most companies that are going bankruptcy are selling there CNC at very good prices. Also if look online there are Machinery auctions, that is where my company just acquired 2 CNC at VERY good price.

I've used Haas CNC Vertical mills (VF-3) and I really have no complaints with them. the beds are cast Iron and are very very well damped, unlike machines made from welded steel plate which vibrate and ring like nobody's business. The control for the mills are virtually identical with the controls for the lathes so if you know how to operate one, you know how to operate the other. No retraining for different systems required.

You could try looking on this site...

If you look on the original CNC blog, there are many interesting links where people can help, similar to CNCZONE.....
