Voltage Drop and Electrical Field Strength

Can Voltage Drop treat as one of Electrical Field Strength?

Are we talking theory?

E = -V = - (i δ/δx + j δ/δy + kδ/δz)V = -(i δV/δx + j δV/δy + kδV/δz)

Thus the electric field = the rate of change of potential (or Voltage) in that direction - decrease of actually due to negative sign.

This is some times also shown as

E = iEx+jEy+kEz

Where Ex = - δV/δx etc

So the Voltage drop in any direction gives you the electric field.

The Voltage you must remember is also called the potential (in fact Electric Field Potential)
