I use some Ferrous metal and place it very close to but not contacting the coil. Then energize the coil to see if a magnetic field is being generated. If there is a magnetic field the col is probably OK. If not then check for voltage to the coil, if voltage is present it is probably faulty. If no voltage present find out why and fix it. Then recheck.

Low tech I know but effective in most cases.

Thanks, but if the coil less energize and as a result the output will not be fulfilled and efficiency will be less. How to overcome this problem that the coil is working with 100% efficiency.

There are simple, cheap test devices which glow when placed in close proximity to an energized coil.

The magnet sounds effective, too.

  1. Turn off Caps Lock
  2. Test it using a power supply and a meter.
