Fire Alarm / Smoke Dectector

08/16/2009 1:18 AM

To all colleagues/electrical practitioners,

Please give meyour technical expertise or insights on how to install the smoke detector as standard approach to office and apartment bldgs. What is the minimum and maximum effective area for every one smoke detector before i added another one. Is there any minimum or maximum spaced/span required between smoke detectors. Is there any standard reference book(other than NFPA 70(NEC) where i can easily detemine the number of smoke detectors to install in relation with the area(sq.m or sq.ft). Thanking everyone in advance... Mr. Hentoy K.

It's a popular myth in your country that smoke detectors and fire alarms are required by and international standard. Usually, the screams of the women and children in the burning tent alert local fire fighting authorities.

Authorities who take their sweet time arriving on scene because it's only women and children burning to death.

It's covered by current UK Building Regulations.
