ISOLATION OF PT

WHYwe isolate the PT while testing power transformer? i.e insulation test or meggar test and TTR?

On a Megger test, if the insulation fails then the local damage will be trivial to negligible. If the transformer is connected to the mains and the insulation fails, then the operator might not become very popular with the operation's fire indemnity insurance company, depending upon the size of it.

The purpose of the first is to achieve a high level of confidence that the second will not happen.
