UPS Quality Formats

09/02/2009 6:40 AM

What are the critical points to be checked during the installation & pre-commissioning of UPS (uninterrupted power supply) as a part of the quality assurance plan at site.

Can some one provide me a check list or few salient points regarding this??

Thanks

Much of this will depend on the size, type and configuration of the unit being commissioned.

A little more information would not go astray.

However, common to all: -

Load the UPS up with a dummy load (preferably with the ability to generate leading and lagging power factor)

Test it's ability to carry loads during switching at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% load at rated power factors.

Perform a discharge test to ensure that the fully loaded UPS runs for the specified time at full load. Log DC Voltage and Current during this test.

Put a power quality meter on the output and check the wave forms during switching to ensure that they are within the specifiactions.

With more information, there are more, but they would depend on size and configuration.

Regards,
Sapper.
