hello

my name is mike (as you have most likely gathered from my user name) I'm from the uk and I am due to start a Engineering degree is august to follow on from my HNC, which will hopefully lead me to a masters in renewable engineering, I stumbled upon this site whilst researching sterling engines, and quickly realized that includes a section relevant to my Degree.

I doubt I will be able to add any knowledge to this site, as I am only learning myself, but will most likely be asking Question that some will consider self-explanatory, dont be to hard on me :)

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section

Mike R

Hi mike R,

BE VERY CAREFUL!! This place is addictive.

You probably know, "we don't do homework here", intentionally.

But, you will find some fine minds here willing to advise you if you are having problems.

You may find that you can help others with what you already know, along the way.

I don't necessarily let a lack of knowledge on a particular subject keep me out of the discussion.

We're also very cosmopolitan, in a worldly sense.

Cheers.

G'day Mike,

Welcome aboard.

I have found, that as a student, just by joining threads and being wrong with part or all of your understanding, you learn heaps.

If you're right and this is a good place to test your understanding, you will learn by the very process of writing your response as I have found that process can of itself clarrify you thoughts.

The guys and gals(there's more that you would expect) are great people and will help you if you get stuck.

Just get in the habit of using the search box first, there is some great stuff in there without having to ask the same questions and looking lazy.

Regards,
Sapper

Hi Mike,

As you have seen this is engineers site. So you are boarding the correct train. Welcome on board. Here members are from amateurs to highly experienced class from all over the world mostly cool and well mannered. Only one request please do not post your tutorials and home work. Before posting a thread check weather there is any earlier threads on the same or similar subject in CR4. It will be better if an initial search in google is made for initial understanding of the subject so that the thread will be more meaningful.

Best wishes
