My first guess is that your transmission does not now know what the input speed is. And because of this it is now in a "limp" mode. This allows the car to me driven to a repair shop.

Have you examined the input speed sensor?

This appears to be a common complaint from many different cars (maybe with the same automatic gearbox?), do a search on CR4 and check out the other blogs for the same problem.....that should help you fix your problem.

If I remember correctly, it is a simple cheap fix......

I don't think that anything on a Mercedes is cheap.

Yes there is a cheap component, sometimes they have a yellow Canary, it always says "Cheap, Cheap"!.....

Yes you are right, they add a "0" to the wrong end of the amount to be paid. If you are lucky, sometimes its 2 x "0".....

A friend of mine had a Mercedes some 18 years or so ago and a sensor failed for the ABS in the rear. He had to buy what was basically a new rear axle/diff, because the sensor could not be replaced.....over DM5,000 at the time......the car had not done 100,000KMs and was 1.5 years old.....he found out later that most of them failed and a proper company would have replaced the sensor!!!!!

Today it would be cheaper as instead of one sensor in the diff, you have two at the rear wheels......early ABS had only one rear sensor.....not everyone knows that!!

I had to go to the MB dealer for the brake wear sensors. They cost more than the brake pads did from NAPA. ( a nationwide chain of automotive parts stores.)

I would if I could, but I haven't a clue where it is.

Have you searched the web fully?
