I doubt if an expansion tank is required for a Point Of Use electric H2O heater. Anyone know for sure? This is for a single 4 gal, 120v, 1500w POU H2O heater serving 2 restrooms. Thx.
Definitely NOT required, your point of use heater needs to be as close as possible to the actual point of use. Otherwise you have excessive piping that needs to be heated every time you open your hot water valve.
Will this be possible while serving two restrooms with one unit?
You need to know how long it takes for the temperature to recover. If the two restrooms have a lot of traffic, you could quickly run out of hot water. For low use, no problem. Might I suggest instead, installing an instant on-demand water heater. They are more economical to operate and can be sized to meet all your needs.
The manufacturer's information leaflet supplied with the equipment and the local plumbing codes have all the answers on this one.
