WHY GOVERNER IS REQUIRED IN A HYDRO ELECTRIC PLANT IS SAME REASON WHY GOVERNER IS REQUIRED FOR ANY OTHER MECHANICAL SYSTEM TO GOVERN

TURN OFF CAPS LOCK.

WHY GOVERNER IS REQUIRED? To control turbine speed.

The correct spelling is governor.

Actually it's not required if your electricity consumers could use any voltage and frequency and you were able to provide infinite power.

The main purpose other than frequency would be to balance the flow (energy) of the water with the load.

Dear Byjuram

As the flow rate of water to the turbine varies, the speed and the freequency also will vary accordingly, so we have to use a governor to control the water flow to the turbine, by adjusting the valve/ flap
