What is the standard coal consumtion of 100mw thermal power plant if it operates at 80% PLF?

It all depends on the coal analysis (%Volatile, Calorific value, Type of Coal, Moisture Content, ....)

Then based on that (if you want approximate, take the calorific value only)

From that- Steam generator Efficiency- TG Efficiency will give you the coal requirement.

Roughly I may say somewhere around 100 Tons/ Hour, if your coal is similar to mine.

The calorific value of coals may be found in Kempe's Engineers' Yearbook, any edition.

What is PLF? If it means % maximum output = 80 MW, I make it about 26 tonne/h. This assumes coal CV 32 MJ/kg and overall efficiency 35%.

Cheers......Codey

If I assume the value 3600 Kcal/Kg of coal,

1 Kcal/Hr = 4.18/3600 KW

3600 Kcal/Hr = 1 Kg/Hr = 4.18 KW

1T / Hr = 4.18 MW (Ideal) = 4.18 * 35% = 1.46 MW (output)

So for 100 MW you will need approx 68 T / Hr.
